Virgo Zodiac Art Showcase

Derek Donnelly is a key figure and native of the St. Petersburg art world, specializing in large-scale murals and portraiture that often celebrate the nature and history of his sunny hometown paradise. Donnelly was part of the orginal wave of artists who went public on the walls of an otherwise drab and virtually art-free downtown St.Pete in the early 2010s. His studio and gallery, Donnelly Cove, is the anchor tenant at the Pinellas Arts Village, on Park Boulevard in Pinellas Park. The multi-artist community has a themed ArtWalk event every fourth Saturday. We are proud to present his work at level 11 for the Zodiac Series. Fine artist Alyssa Marie is a passionate muralist and oil painter who believes that happiness is a choice and is on a mission to uplift the world through art. She accomplishes this by creating impressionistic oil paintings inspired by the wildlife and flora she encounters in her everyday life. In addition, Alyssa has been painting larger-than-life murals for residential and corporate clients since 2017. In 2020, she revolutionized community involvement with her large-scale, color-by-number community murals designed to instill feelings of hope, positivity, and inclusivity in the communities directly impacted by their presence and beyond. Rhys Meatyard, a queer/trans artist from St. Petersburg, Florida, has emerged as a promising talent in the local art scene. Drawing inspiration from a rich family’s artistic heritage, Rhys has developed a distinctive style that reflects their personal journey and the influence of their local family roots.

After overcoming significant personal challenges, including homelessness, single parenthood, and self-discovery, Rhys discovered their artistic voice. Their work, which often incorporates elements of their family’s artistic traditions, has been exhibited in numerous shows and festivals, including the prestigious SHINE Mural Festival.

With talent, dedication, and unique perspective, Rhys Meatyard is poised to make a lasting impact on the St. Petersburg art scene.
